not difficult at all! I blog here http://conclave.open.ac.uk/SocialCommunications/ - i have a backlog of things I want to blog about!I guess it depends on whether people in your dept are actively reading other blogs discussing similar subjects. If they are then they will be aware of current discussions, if not then it may be difficult to think of things to blog about! Blogging imho is fundamentally a social activity - it's about sharing. To share you need someone to share with - that's why you need to be reading other people's blogs. Do you find this valuable? |

I've had a quick chat with techies, and they muttered about not having time to read blogs let alone write them. I think there's a problem that in the past, research/development time was built into the schedule, but here it's only done now with a very specific focus.

Hi SueLike Stuart, I have a backlog of posts and I try and ration them. I find that blogs can be much more useful in many respects than email - and isn't it strange that nobody says they haven't time to write emails. And reading blog posts can be helped by use of an RSS reader. Brian Do you find this valuable? |

I have time to write emails (and read them!) but rarely have time to read a blog, or a wiki to be honest. Or rather, I rarely /make/ time to read them. Having decide long ago that I'd read email, I give all other channels far lower importance. I don't like going here for a conversation with this person, there for an update on that project, and everywhere to find out the latest on another topic. Blogs, Facebook, wikis, Second Life - when I've got time to spare. Email - everyday (all day!) I don't think this is because email is better, just I've been around it longer so it got into my working patterns first.Jane Do you find this valuable? |
